The Barnes & Noble Art Show & Book Fair was a success. Thanks to Mrs. Barrette and The Middle School Glee Club. Thanks also to The Drawing Class Sign-In Helpers. The FREE Dress is this Thursday, February 16th for those who attended and signed in.

EIGHTH GRADE : The COMPLETED Face Mosaic Project is due by March 2nd. This means all of the missing features must be complete as well as anything else that is missing.  As for the paper maché heads, you’ll need to know your subject matter by March 2nd. Any picture will help.

Art Club  - This Thursday – the 16th and every Thursday in March. That makes 10 more for the year!

SEVENTH GRADE: We’re ALL working on the Christmas Carol Project. Your project is due on March 2nd!!!!!!! Many of you should have been coming to Lunch Bunch! Much of your Trimester grade depends on this!

SIXTH GRADE: Block Printing and the Pop Art project. We will be learning about Georgia O’Keeffe next.

FIFTH GRADE: The Famous Artist Project. Bring in the samples of the Artist’s artwork 1st!

You are to research your chosen artist. Look on the computer and/or in the library.

1. Write a report on the artist’s life and his or her artwork. Hand in a one to two page typed report. (Due Date will be announced soon)

2. You will also give an oral report so we all may learn about your chosen artist. Be prepared to show samples of the artwork.

3. Choose one work of art created by your artist. You will recreate this piece of art. This color sample should be handed in first.

4. For extra credit: The Art Show is on Thursday, May 10th. If you choose the extra credit project, you are to be in costume the evening of the Art Show. You may dress to look like your artist or a subject in his or her work of art. You should have a little sign or card to explain to others at the show.

FOURTH GRADE: Most students are now working on their self portraits.

THIRD GRADE: Students finishing the paisley designs and are beginning the water scenes inspired by Winslow Homer.

SECOND GRADE: We will read the book “Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse” and work on a coordinating project.

FIRST GRADE: Our next project is to sketch an animal of their choice. They can bring in some pictures to help.

KINDERGARTEN: We’ll be using sponge shapes to create patterns while  mixing paint to make pastel colors.

PRE-K: We’ll be adding snow to our neighborhood scenes using white paint and pencils.
