The Barnes & Noble Art Show & Book Fair will take place on Wednesday, February 1st during Catholic Schools Week.

EIGHTH GRADE : The COMPLETED Face Mosaic Project will be due before the end of the trimester. This means all of the missing features must be complete as well as anything else that is missing.  As for the paper mache heads, you’ll need to know your subject matter within a few weeks. Any picture will help.

Art Club  - Every Thursday this month.

SEVENTH GRADE: We’re ALL working on the Christmas Carol Project. You should have made some decisions  and done the research. This project is to be completed before February vacation !!!!!!!

SIXTH GRADE: Portfolio Design & Block Printing. The Famous Artist Painting must be completed during Lunch Bunch. Remember to bring in your photo. SOON! Some have started on the Pop Art project.

FIFTH GRADE: Pottery Design. The next lesson will be introduced this week. It’s called The Famous Artist Project.

You are to research your chosen artist. Look on the computer and/or in the library.

1. Write a report on the artist’s life and his or her artwork. Hand in a one to two page typed report. (Due Date will be announced)

2. You will also give an oral report so we all may learn about your chosen artist. Be prepared to show samples of the artwork.

3. Choose one work of art created by your artist. You will recreate this piece of art. This color sample should be handed in first.

4. For extra credit: The Art Show is on Thursday, May 10th. If you choose the extra credit project, you are to be in costume the evening of the Art Show. You may dress to look like your artist or a subject in his or her work of art. You should have a little sign or card to explain to others at the show.

FOURTH GRADE: Most students are finished with Origami snowflakes. Students have now been introduced to the artwork of Pablo Picasso. A demonstration was given on how to draw the human face and the proportions and math that is involved.

THIRD GRADE: Students are working on their abstract designs with oil pastel and watercolor. Most are now on paisley design.

SECOND GRADE: We read the book “Cows That Type” and will sketch a scene that was in the book including one cow.

FIRST GRADE: We talked about proportions. We are coloring a picture titled “My Giant And Me”.

 KINDERGARTEN: We’ll be using oil pastels to color a neighborhood scene and using white paint and pencils to add snow.

PRE-K: We’re on to an under water scene. We painted the ocean last week with paint and sponges. This week we’ll color and add the fish and seaweed.

DRAWING: We’re back to our previous drawing projects. Several possibilities were discussed for the next project.
